His Excellency, the Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt, has announced the following appointments in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

Effective October 1, 2013

  • Deacon Terrence Beer appointed “ad nutum episcopi” to exercise the ministry of a permanent deacon at the Church of Pax Christi in Eden Prairie.
  • Deacon James Pufahl appointed “ad nutum episcopi” to exercise the ministry of a permanent deacon at the Church of Mary, Mother of the Church in Burnsville.
  • Deacon James Saumweber appointed “ad nutum episcopi” to exercise the ministry of a permanent deacon at the Church of the Assumption in Saint Paul.

Effective October 3, 2013

  • The Most Reverend Bishop Lee Piché appointed Moderator of the Curia on an interim basis “ad nutum episcopi.” This is in addition to his appointment as Vicar General. Bishop Piché will assume responsibilities previously assigned to the Very Reverend Peter Laird.

Effective October 5, 2013

  • Reverend D. Reginald Whitt, O.P. appointed Episcopal Vicar for Ministerial Standards. Reverend Whitt has been granted authority over all issues related to clergy sexual misconduct, and to appoint an independent lay task force to review any and all issues related to clergy sexual misconduct.

Effective October 15, 2013

  • Deacon Michael Wurdock appointed “ad nutum episcopi” to exercise the ministry of a permanent deacon at the Church of Saint Alphonsus in Brooklyn Center.
