The Basilica Block Party — a music festival held outside the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis — will be on hiatus once again this year.

Molly Cashman, special events coordinator for the Basilica, issued a brief statement saying the festival — which features a variety of live performances — “is on a planned hiatus this year.”

In 2022, organizers issued a statement that the festival would be placed on a one-year hiatus as they sought “to reimagine the event for future years.”

“Live events have had to rethink their strategy and future because of COVID and the Block Party is no different,” the statement read at the time.

The Basilica Block Party was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but returned in September 2021. Organizers said attendance was down that year as COVID-19 uncertainties continued.

Cashman said organizers aren’t ruling out a 2024 return for the Basilica Block Party.
