Father Dummer had ministered at Christ the King Retreat Center since July 2014.

A native of New Ulm, Father Dummer grew up in Oregon and the West Coast. He served in the Navy and was involved in high school teaching and administration before joining the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1980. He was ordained in 1984.

His ministry took him from Tijuana, Mexico, to Sisseton, South Dakota. Of the places he served, his favorite was a parish in Juneau, Alaska.

A funeral Mass will be offered 10:30 a.m. Oct. 9 at St. Francis Xavier in Buffalo, with visitation one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ the King Retreat Center.
