Catholics in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis have an opportunity to help people in the Midwest and southern states after late December rains caused severe flooding there.

Archbishop Bernard Hebda, apostolic administrator of the archdiocese, requests that all parishes join with Catholics around the country to take up a second collection at Masses the weekend of Jan. 16 -17 to support relief efforts of Catholic Charities USA. The organization is helping to supply water, food, shelter, medical care and long-term material and spiritual needs.

After the collection, parishes should forward one check payable to the Center for Mission with “Domestic Disaster Relief” on the memo line.

For more information, contact Deacon Mickey Friesen, director of the Center for Mission, at 651-291-4445 or friesenm@archspm.org.
