St. Thomas Academy rifle team headed to nationals with CMP state championship

Four St. Thomas Academy, Mendota Heights students and rifle team members will head to nationals in March after winning the state title Jan. 7 in Forest Lake.

Seth Olson, Riley Miller, John Sotamba and Jack Kotok shot a 2,029 score at the state tournament held by the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Second place went to a squad called X-Men with 1,975 points.

STA advances with its first rifle team compete at the national championship March 29-31 in Camp Perry, Ohio. The Cadets’ second rifle squad took sixth at state.
