Before their wedding, Jeff and Jenni Fuchs, parishioners of St. Patrick in Oak Grove, bought a video camera to videotape the couple’s honeymoon in Europe. Jeff soon felt inspired by his camera work and decided to self-teach.
Jenni told Practicing Catholic host Patrick Conley on the program that will air at 9 p.m. Nov. 15 on Relevant Radio 1330 AM, “He took classes online or learned from different experts in the industry and started videotaping cousins’ weddings and friends’ weddings. People loved what they were getting. They loved that it was authentic and faith-filled and it just kind of blossomed from there. That’s when we started.”

Together, the Fuchs couple started Northern Lights Video. After they officially launched the company, the Fuchs were in the southern metro to film a coworker’s wedding. On their way home, the Fuchs saw the Northern Lights in the sky. They had never seen them before and not again until this year.
“It just felt like a real confirmation to us from God that this is the right direction,” Jenni said. “This is where I want you. The name was born right then and there.”
Jenni said they enjoy giving people a full picture of their wedding ceremonies, including the commitment and the importance of marriage.
“On the wedding day, it’s all beautiful and fun, but later on, when it gets hard, we want them to have this picture of their day to remember back to when they fell in love and when they committed themselves to each other in good times and bad.”
Jeff explained that while they do look for the major moments, they also look for the little moments. Typically, couples are at their wedding events for seven to nine hours.
“The mother of the bride and the bride, those little glances when they’re getting ready. Sometimes there’s some really nice moments there where the grandparents come and get their picture taken, so we like to be there for the majority of the day, not only to get the major points, but those little brief moments that you’ll forget if there’s no video there.”
