The documentary “Catholicism: The New Evangelization” is now available for pre-sale online. This Word on Fire film shows how to put one’s faith into action in today’s increasingly secular world.
The 90-minute film follows Father Robert Barron as he travels to Australia, England and around the U.S. to examine the Church’s mission within the challenges of Western secular culture. Father Barron is an author, speaker, theologian and founder of the nonprofit global media ministry, Word on Fire.
The film tells what the “New Evangelization” is and includes a tour to witness examples of new ardor, expressions and methods of evangelization in action.
“Let’s start with the beauty of the faith. . . . I wanted to start with the splendor of it,” Father Barron, rector of Mundelein Seminary outside of Chicago, said.
His approach to the new evangelization, the late Blessed John Paul II’s term for reaching formerly Christian societies, tends to begin with “something in the culture that people are watching or paying attention to.”
Father Barron said the series focuses on the new evangelization because “it’s what we need as a Church.”
The DVD set, including four hours of bonus features, is $55.95, or $99.95 for the Study Leader’s Kit at store.wordonfire.org.
