Jill Reilly, president of Education, Leadership and Management (ELM) Consultants and former president of Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, has been named as acting superintendent of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, effective June 1.
The archdiocese said the search process for a permanent replacement remains active as it “continues its commitment to find the best leader and best fit for the specific needs of the 12-county archdiocesan school system.”
“We are deeply grateful to Dr. Reilly for her support and leadership during this interim period,” Archbishop John Nienstedt said. “The 93 Catholic schools of our archdiocese are an important priority for us. While we continue our search process, we are indeed blessed to have someone as experienced and talented as Dr. Reilly at the helm.”
Reilly served as president of Academy of Holy Angels from 1995 until her retirement in 2011 when she was given the honorary title of president emeritus. She continues to serve Catholic schools in an advisory capacity through her consulting practice.
Reilly holds advanced education degrees from both the University of Minnesota and University of St. Thomas. She also served on the archdiocesan Catholic Schools Commission as part of the long-term strategic planning process during 2009-2010. In 2008, she was a recipient of The Catholic Spirit’s “Leading with Faith” award, which honors individuals for workplace practices that reflect the teachings of Jesus and his Church. She also is active in many Catholic organizations around the Twin Cities.
Among Reilly’s immediate priorities will be evaluating and formulating manageable goals for the Catholic elementary schools of the archdiocese for the 2013-2014 school year in consultation with pastors and Catholic school leaders.
“I am honored that the archbishop asked me to assist him in this important work.” Reilly said. “My passion is Catholic education, and I have a deep love for and commitment to the Church. I’m looking forward to working with the archdiocesan staff, pastors and school leaders to create a meaningful and fruitful plan for the 2013-2014 school year.”
