Father Jerome Janski served Minneapolis parish for 27 years

Father Jerome J. Janski, who retired from active ministry in 1992, died Aug. 8. He was 87.

Father Janski was born March 19, 1925 and ordained a priest June 3, 1950.

Prior to his retirement, he served for 27 years at St. Philip in Minneapolis, including 15 years as pastor. (St. Philip merged in 2011 with Ascen­sion in Minneapolis.)

Among Father Janski’s other priestly assignments were St. Leo, Highland Park; St Adalbert, St. Paul; St. Michael, West St. Paul; St. Michael, Pine Island and St. Therese, Deephaven.

The Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 17 at Holy Cross in Minneapolis, with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minneapolis.
