On July 1, 2011, Queen of Peace Hospital officially merged with Mayo Clinic Health Systems. Simultaneously, the Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict of St. Joseph, the religious sponsors of the hospital since 1952, discontinued their Catholic sponsorship. Consequently, Queen of Peace Hospital is no longer a Catholic hospital.
In the coming months, the name of the hospital and affiliated clinics will be changed to Mayo Clinic Health System.
