To celebrate our 175th anniversary year, in 2025, the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis Archives initiated a project with The Catholic News Archive to bring nearly 160 years of local historical Catholic newspapers online to be freely accessible to the public.
Over the coming months, three titles will be added to these collections:
- The Catholic Spirit (1996 to present)
- The Catholic Bulletin (1911 to 1995)
- The Northwestern Chronicle (1866 to 1902)
The transition to this new host will begin with the most recent issues of The Catholic Spirit and The Catholic Bulletin. More issues will be added as earlier years from the archives collections are processed, scanned and indexed.
Our goal is for all issues to be online by the fall of 2026. Please check back to watch our progress, and enjoy exploring these valuable records of archdiocesan history!
