His Excellency, the Most Rev. John C. Nienstedt, has announced the following appointments in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

Effective March 3, 2014

Reverend Stephen LaCanne, appointed chaplain to Abbott Northwestern Hospital. This is in addition to his current office of pastor of the Church of Saint Leonard of Port Maurice in Minneapolis.

Effective March 10, 2014

Reverend John Hofstede, appointed pastor of the Church of Saint Cecilia in Saint Paul. With this appointment, the Very Reverend Charles Lachowitzer ceases his office of parochial administrator. Father Hofstede will also continue in his office as chaplain to the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview.

Effective April 1, 2014

Deacon Gerald Little, appointed “ad nutum episcopi” to exercise the ministry of a permanent deacon at the Church of Saint Hubert in Chanhassen. This is a transfer from his current assignment at the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Savage.

Retirements

Reverend Donald Piché, released from his assignment at the Church of Saint Joseph the Worker in Maple Grove and granted the status of a retired priest. Father Piché has served the Archdiocese as a priest since his ordination in 1977.

Deacon Gary Hoffman, retired from his weekend assignment at the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Jordan after 30 years of active service as a deacon.
