Catholic Charities announces new board members

Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, the largest comprehensive social services organization in the region, announced Feb. 4 the appointment of five new board members effective Jan. 1, 2014.

Julie Heyroth Gasper is a semi-retired financial executive currently doing consulting work through Beautiful Hill Financial Consulting, LLC. She has been a long-time supporter and volunteer with Catholic Charities.

Bettina Hoye is a principal at Nelson, Tietz & Hoye, Inc. and has worked in commercial real estate for close to 30 years.

Nekima Levy-Pounds is a law professor at the University of St. Thomas, where she also directs the Community Justice Project. Her work involves advocacy, public policy, strategic problem-solving, and community engagement, to name a few across a wide variety of issues that impact the poor and the working poor.

Tom Mahowald is senior vice president of strategy and product management for UCare, an independent, nonprofit health plan providing health coverage and services to more than 350,000 members in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

Bob Tift is president of Benilde-St. Margaret’s School in St. Louis Park. He has spent his entire career serving children and youth in educational, residential, medical and recreational organizations.
