Mary Hinton has been selected as the 15th president of the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph. Hinton, who currently serves as the vice president for academic affairs at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y., will take office on June 15. She succeeds MaryAnn Baenninger, who announced in October 2013 that she would step down in June 2014, after serving 10 years as president of the college.

Hinton, her husband Robert Williams, and their children, Hallela, Hillel and Hosanna, plan to move to Minnesota in June and make their home at the Renner House, the college’s presidential residence.

Perpetual adoration chapel at St. Gabriel

adorationParishioners at St. Gabriel the Archangel in Hopkins celebrated the opening of an adoration chapel at the parish’s St. Joseph campus March 19 with a procession from the church to the chapel after a Mass celebrating the Feast of St. Joseph.

The space for the new chapel became available when St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist parishes merged to become St. Gabriel in January 2013. The merge freed up what used to be office space at the St. Joseph campus, and it was renovated to serve as the adoration chapel.
