The Lexvold family of St. Michael in Kenyon added another gold medal to its collection of state wrestling titles, as Mitchel, a junior, captured a Class A championship at 119 pounds March 5 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Wrestling for Kenyon-Wanamingo High School, he is shown battling Will McCarthy of Border West in the finals, where he won, 9-2. He finished the season with a record of 42-4, winning his first title after placing second last year at 112 and sixth in 2008 at 103. Other Lexvolds winning state titles were Nathan at 135 pounds in 2008 as a senior, and Drew at 125 in 2009 as a junior and at 130 last year as a senior.
