Teenagers in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis are invited to the third annual Archdiocesan Youth Day Oct. 25. The theme, “Thirst for Happiness,” is inspired by Pope Francis’ message to “be blessed [by being] happy.”

The event is for students who will be in grades nine through 12 for the 2014-2015 school year. It will take place from 1:30 to 9 p.m. at the Anderson Athletic & Recreation Complex (Field House) on the University of St. Thomas campus, 2115 Summit Ave., St. Paul.

With Dave Rinaldi of NET Ministries as emcee, Archbishop John Nienstedt will spend the day with participants and celebrate Mass. Keynote speaker Sister Miriam James Heidland, a member of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity, will speak about the theology of the body, authentic love, the healing power of Christ, vocations and the dignity and beauty of women. Sister Miriam’s ministry ranges from coaching high school volleyball to co-hosting a Catholic radio show.

The event also includes music (featuring Twin Cities band Sonar), dinner, opportunities for reconciliation and eucharistic adoration, activities and service projects.

At last year’s event, 1,600 youth gathered for the day.

The cost is $10 per student. Registration is by group only, so those interested should contact the youth minister or pastor at their parish or campus minister at their school. Groups registered by June 1 are guaranteed attendance.

For more information, call Sonya at (651) 291-4515, or visit the events page.
