This Easter season, Catholic Charities Twin Cities is asking businesses, faith communities and other groups such as book clubs to consider participating in its “Giving Basket” program. Similar to “Giving Trees” that collect needed supplies across the Twin Cities every Christmas season, the Giving Basket program will collect most-needed items for the people served by Catholic Charities:

  • Men’s and women’s underwear

  • Men’s belts

  • Activity items such as sketch pads, meditation coloring books, art sets, sudoku

  • Hygiene items, including razors, deodorant, ethnic hair products, shampoo, body wash and toothpaste.

Formatted “donation request slips” showing these needed items are available for downloading and printing from the Catholic Charities website. Some organizations print the slips and place them in colored plastic Easter eggs in a basket at work or when people gather in a group such as a book club. Or people can choose one item from the wish list to collect at a group or business drop-off point. Or whatever option organizations choose.

For more information about the Giving Basket program, visit Catholic Charities’ Giving Basket website.

To coordinate drop-off of items at the Catholic Charities distribution center, contact Mike Rios-Keating at Michael.Rios@cctwincitiesorg or 630-386-5799. Items can also be dropped off Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the distribution center, 341 Chester St., St. Paul.
