Inadequate access to housing is a growing problem in Minnesota, especially with the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent economic downturn – but Black and Indigenous adults have been hit particularly hard.

Seeking to raise awareness about why people of color are overrepresented in the state’s unsheltered population, Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis is teaming up with MPR News for a special “In Focus: Racism in Housing Access” webinar at noon Nov. 18.

A panel of experts hosted by MPR News will discuss how racism affects a person’s ability to find a house or apartment and then keep it. They also will discuss what efforts are being made to address racial disparities and help more people obtain affordable housing.

The discussion will include an audience Q&A, and it will be broadcast on MPR News at a later date. The event also will be available for viewing via Facebook Live at facebook.com/MPRnews/

Updates on speakers and participants will also be found on this page.
