Father Louis Studer

Oblate priest Father Louis Studer of Christ the King Retreat Center in Buffalo has been named the new provincial for the U.S. province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

Father Studer will serve in the new role, announced April 27, for the next three years at the order’s provincial headquarters in Belleville, Illinois. He had been serving as director of Christ the King for the past four years. During that time, Father Studer also acquired the role of vicar-provincial/personnel director for the U.S. province in 2012.

He previously served director for the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Illinois, for 10 years. He also led fundraising efforts for the Oblates as director of the Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate.

An Iowa native, Father Studer made his final vows with the Oblates in 1975 and was ordained in 1976.
