Six Catholic schools — two in St. Louis Park, one in Maplewood, one in Plymouth, one in St. Anthony and one in Stillwater — were listed by the Minnesota Department of Health Oct. 7 as having five or more COVID-19 infections among students and staff.

The six Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis on the list were Benilde-St. Margaret’s and Holy Family Academy, both in St. Louis Park, Hill-Murray in Maplewood, Providence Academy in Plymouth, St. Charles Borromeo in St. Anthony and St. Croix Catholic in Stillwater.

There are 91 Catholic elementary and high schools in the archdiocese. The six schools were among 406 public and private school buildings on the health department’s statewide list as having multiple COVID-19 infections over a two-week period.

Overall, the health department’s weekly list of schools with COVID-19 outbreaks grew 74% Oct. 7 compared with the week before. Schools are not removed from the list until they haven’t had a new case in 28 days.

Editor’s note: This corrects the story posted Oct. 8 to include two more Catholic schools in the archdiocese.
