Archbishop John Nienstedt ordained seven men to the transitional diaconate May 4 at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. Michael Barsness, Kevin Manthey, Marcus Milless, Marc Paveglio and Paul Shovelain were ordained for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Joseph Mukasa Kavuma and Joseph Kirembwe were ordained for the Archdiocese of Kampala, Uganda. The transitional diaconate is comprised of deacons who seek to advance to the priesthood. In this archdiocese, they are usually ordained priests a year later.
